What is the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)?

The Youth Empowerment Program is a dynamic initiative focused on Climate Change Advocacy and Research. Cohort 1.0 is a 10-week program tailored to empower young individuals with essential knowledge and skills, transforming them into influential advocates and researchers dedicated to combating climate change. The program encompasses educational workshops, hands-on activities, and mentorship, allowing participants to delve into the science behind climate change, its consequences, and potential solutions. Moreover, it encourages them to create original research articles, culminating in the presentation of their work to the community.

The Goal of the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)

This program is not just about education; it’s about action. It provides a thorough understanding of climate change issues, coupled with the necessary tools and mentorship to conduct impactful research. By nurturing a sense of responsibility, autonomy, and leadership, the Youth Empowerment Program aims to ignite a wave of positive change from the grassroots level and cultivate a generation of future environmental champions.

YEP 1.0 Cohort Overveiw

What you will learn during YEP Cohort 1.0?

  • Climate Science Fundamentals: Understand the causes and impacts of climate change both locally and globally.
  • Climate Advocacy: Learn advocacy strategies and communication techniques for climate action.
  • Leadership Development: Develop leadership skills through goal setting, decision making, and teamwork exercises.
  • Research Methodology: Gain knowledge in research methodology, including literature review and data analysis.
  • Project Design: Design and conduct a research project on a climate change-related topic.
  • Academic Writing: Acquire academic writing skills for drafting and structuring research articles.
  • Data Analysis: Learn to use data analysis software and interpret research data.
  • Peer Review: Engage in peer review sessions to refine research articles.
  • Presentation Skills: Train in public speaking and presentation techniques to effectively share research findings.

Qualifications

The program is open to youth aged 16-35 who are passionate about environmental issues and interested in making a positive impact in their communities.
Participants should demonstrate a commitment to learning, collaboration, and taking action on climate change.
Participants are expected to dedicate a minimum of 3 hours weekly throughout the entire span of the program to ensure consistent engagement and contribution.
