Selena Lopez
Position: Vice Chief Climate Education Officer
Country: United States
Selena works as the Climate Warrior Stories team lead within the Climate Education Office, and helped to write and share these stories. Selena has a lifelong passion for advocating for green solutions and lifestyles. Growing up in Michigan in the US, home to some of the largest freshwater lakes in the world, she was able to experience first hand the community driven love of the lakes. She also came to recognize how almost every decision we make has an impact on the environment and that living consciously is a necessity to protect our world. After participating in a Freshwater conservation externship hosted by the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy, Selena began the process of shifting her engineering career toward environmental design and remediation. In addition to her professional endeavors, she also volunteers around her community by picking up trash along the roads and rivers, and she is a volunteer stream and lake monitor through the Michigan Clean Water Corps. One of Selena’s future goals includes working on shoreline reconstruction and stream restoration projects within environmental design.
