Abdeslam is the Co-founder and CEO of Youth Climate Connect (YCC). Growing up in Sudan, he witnessed first hand the importance of environmental conservation in rural communities.

Despite limited access to formal education, he actively engaged in initiatives aimed at raising awareness and implementing conservation projects.

This passion continued throughout his career in medicine, where he sought opportunities to combine his medical studies with environmental advocacy, culminating in his co-founding of YouthClimate Connect (YCC) to empower youth and address the climate crisis.

One of the opportunities Abdelslam participated in was The National Geographic and The Nature Conservancy externship. Utilizing his time in the externship, he led a project focused on raising freshwater awareness among Sudanese students in Egypt. After witnessing the impacts of environmental degradation in the local communities, he felt motivated to strengthen his resolve to advocate for environmental sustainability and inspired him to co-found YouthClimate Connect (YCC). Abdeslam’s future goal for YCC is to establish regional chapters in vulnerable regions of the global south, empowering more young people to take meaningful action on climate change.
