Empowering Youth for
Climate Action

YouthClimate Connect (YCC) is a dynamic global initiative dedicated to empowering and mobilizing youth to address the pressing climate crisis. Our comprehensive online platform equips young individuals with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to actively address climate challenges. While we focus on regions in the Global South, where climate issues are particularly urgent, we also empower youth globally.

According to the Youth Climate Justice Study 2022, only 0.76% of global climate grants from the largest climate foundations go to youth-led Climate Justice initiatives and organizations worldwide.

This underscores the marginalization of youth in climate action. YCC is committed to supporting all young people, especially those who are refugees, displaced, and women, to ensure they can lead meaningful climate action.

Problem Statement

This is some text inside of a div block.
1. Urgent Climate Crisis

The world is confronted with an urgent climate crisis, with its impacts disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities, particularly those in the Global South.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global temperatures have increased by 1.1°C above pre-industrial levels, causing severe weather events, rising sea levels, and biodiversity loss.

These climate-related challenges exacerbate existing economic, social, and health disparities, further marginalizing already disadvantaged populations.

2. Youth Marginalization

Youth are disproportionately affected by climate change, facing heightened risks to their well-being, livelihoods, and futures.

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), more than 67% of young people live in low- and middle-income countries, where climate impacts are most severe.

Despite their vulnerability, youth have limited access to climate education, information, and resources, hindering their meaningful participation in climate action and decision-making processes.

3. Global Disparities

While we focus on the Global South, climate injustice and youth marginalization are global issues.

Vulnerable groups, including refugees, displaced individuals, and women, are particularly affected.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports that there are over 82 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, many of whom face increased vulnerability due to climate change.

There is a need for a united effort to empower youth worldwide to take meaningful climate action.
